Things got a little off time schedule, and a couple of the events we had planned did not come off as expected, but we hope everyone had a good time.
We were extremely fortunate to welcome Representative Jeremy Faison who is our district representative in Nashville, (in case you didn't vote). He and his family came and spent the day with us. These are real people and we had a great time with them, especially watching their children playing in Paint Creek.
EMA Bill Brown stopped by and gave an update on the cleanup of the tornado. He stated that the things needed now and going forward are:
volunteers for cleanup
household item donations
chain saw oil, gasoline and bar oil for the volunteers who are coming in here from all over the US.
Shortly there will be volunteer re-builders coming I think he stated from Missouri. They will need some good ole country support, so let's do what we can for them. One of our volunteers has already stepped up to the plate to take a few into her home for sleeping, showering to help them out.
The day was fantastic, with the storytelling, music, silent auction, and events. Oops, failed to mention that the food was as always outstanding!
Hattie is still collecting monetary donations, and hopes by next week to be able to report on the total intake for the tornado victims.
Sad to hear anyone missed out on this fantastic day on the mountain!
